Dinner at Novus

Dinner menu for the night with wine pairing :)

This is complimentary from the Chef- beetroots with celery and yogurt. I don't really like celery and therefore this is not to my liking. :(

My entree- Hamachi

OMG!! This is soooooo yummy! I was surprise to find apple bits on top and it goes super well with Hamachi (my fav!) slurp!!!

I finished it within minutes!! Am impressed!

Starter was scallop lasagna

It comes with sunny side up and bits carviar (something which I still don't know how to appreciate)

But I finished it nevertheless. It's just so yummy!!!

Next- Salmon!!!

Personally, I find it so-so....

By this time, I'm already very full and a bit bit tipsy :(

Before our main, another complimentary from chef- blackcurrent sorbet.

This is my main- Kurobuta Pork!

Am surprised that I managed to finish it though I'm so full!! Love their crisp trotters!!!

Desserts- chocolate & nuts!!!!

Think I'm a bit tispy by now, somehow the dessert looks like appetizer/ starter to me. Chocolate (looks like thousand island sauce) and pistachio nuts ice cream (looks like tar tar sauce) with almond sponge (looks like bread/egg) and raspberry sauce on top (looks like ketchup) hehehe...

In the mood for love

Today marks our 6th year journey. Just a simple and sincere message of appreciation melts my heart "...life without you makes a difference.."

Though it has been years but I still remembered it clearly- a short vacation with single depart but couple return.

Our journey wasn't that smooth sailing (I suppose it's pretty normal) especially for long distance. I'm glad that we sorted out the differences amicably and we managed to overcome the hurdles along the way.

Many a times, I wanted to give up but it was his determination and belief that kept me going. I'm such a coward :(

I feel blessed with my love ones around me- family and friends. What more can I ask?

A lovely surprise :) I'm still in shock

Sake - my new love

I used to hate the smell and dare not to try sake until recent years. If I remembered correctly, my first cup was with Lee. Afterwhich I fell in love with it. Totally! What have I been missing out all these years???

I was walking around the new extension of Millenia Walk when it just opened last year and found this shop- SakeInn. I remembered that felt I just hit a jackpot during lunch! The shop assistant is very friendly and we had a long chat about sake. I've learnt a lot from her and also sample quite a few different type of sake as well. In the end, I left the shop feeling high- high as in literally high from the samplings and also my purchases too.

Sparkling Sake ($9/bottle)
it's a carbonated sake with a feel in the mouth reminiscent champagne

Warning: this is very addictive and it's only available in small bottle. Rem to chill it and you should be able to finish a bottle within 15mins.

Heavens Loft

Heavens Loft is located at 8th Floor, Orchard Central. It is a nice place to chill or to have some bitching session with a group of gfs. Every Wed night, there's a 1-for-1 promotion for Ladies.

Last Friday, I was there for a drink with Lee (and some ants.. Hehe) before the start of our couch potato night with Yang.

Live performance

A place to relax :)

Lucky Monday

I'm so happy! I finally got the Adidas bag which I have been looking for... Yeah!!!

I saw this bag in Royal Sporting House (Suntec) few months ago and I thought it's quite nice. But it's expensive though so I didn't get it then. However, it was on 40% sale 2 weeks ago and I was still thinking whether to buy or not to buy (I'm just too stingy). Over the weekend, I've made up my mind for the purchase but it was sold out..Argh!! I really hate myself at that point!!

I went looking around several other branches and also other stores but I couldn't find it. Was actually feeling quite sad. Just when I finally decided to give up hope, since we are not meant for each other, I saw Suntec branch selling it today (still on discount) Hurray! And it's the last new piece!!

I think it likes me as well :)

One Altitude @ OUB centre

I was there for a birthday party few months ago and am really surprised that it is actually higher than New Asia Bar with a nice view of MBS.

Champagne- a must for birthday (I wonder who started this trend hehe)

MBS looks small from here

Few weeks later, the boys suggested playing golf at this place.

A bucket of 5 bottles cost ~$50. I was disappointed that they run out of hoe garden after our 3rd buckets. WTF! Hope they've learnt to keep more stocks in future.

After couple of drinks, I've muster enough courage to try golf. And I still couldn't hit the ball :(
That's it! Totally no talent in this area, I shall concentrate on drinking next time.

My "date" for the night :)

A heart- from me to you

Mr xxx came back over last weekend for a wedding dinner. Come to think about it, so far, I think his trips back are either for Chinese New Year or for weddings.

I bought him a baby blue polo tee (I love that top) from Zara as a surprise.

Great minds think alike- he bought me a necklace (so sweet of him). From what I can recall, I think this is the first time that we bought each other little surprise gifts at the same time.

simple yet special to me

Mr Punch @ Seah Street

2 years ago, Joy found this place by chance. It's a hidden gem- roof top bar in the middle of city (note: there isn't many roof top bar at that time)

Since then, we have been hanging out at Mr Punch for afterwork drinks almost every week until late last year. It is a good place to chill and unwind with your friends.

Happy hour (1-for-1) from 4pm to 8pm.

Nice view with beer

It's for party of 2

3D Nail Art

I chanced upon these 3D nail art stickers in Sasa (HK). I think they are my life savior (i) I cannot afford a monthly manicure and pedicure from nails parlor, (ii) I can never paint neat and nice nails and (iii) it is not that expensive, only HKD25 (approximately S$5) for a set.

I'm so in love with it!!!

Note: I've seen pushcarts in SG malls selling the exact set for S$18.90!!

Ayuthaya - The Royal Thai Spa

My whole body is aching and I badly need a massage so I googled around and found this Thai massage place in Gallery Hotel.

I've made an appointment on Saturday evening to try it out. They are having promotion for this month - S$98nett for 1hr massage and 30mins scrub.

You can choose salt, herbal or rice scrub and royal Thai (dry) or aroma body oil massage.

I've chose rice scrub and aroma body oil massage. The entire experience is very unique or rather strange to me- it's a massage that doesn't feel like a massage.

It was a very gentle massage, in fact it's so gentle till I didn't feel like she was massaging me at all.

I thought to myself "Such a waste of $ and time."

However, and the end of the session, I'm surprised that I feel very relaxing, my muscles loosen up and my body ache was gone! The best part is I did not suffer any "after massage ache" the next day (which I usually will).

I'll definitely go back for another round.

Taxi story 1

Boarded a taxi from Fullerton Bay Hotel home. After I closed the door, I've heard "beep" from Uncle's machine i.e In-vehicle mobile data terminal (if I'm not wrong).

He had to reject the call because I'm inside his cab already (hahahaha). I've tried to small talk with him by asking usual questions like "how long you've been driving?" "you worked only night shift?" "how's business?"

He told me that he has been driving for 24 years already, gosh!! Initially I thought he already retired and driving only to kill time since he's 2 kids are already working adults. However, I was told that he's in debts and needed money.

My first thought was he must be a gambler- his kids should have given him monthly allowance and why should he be in debts. I was so wrong. His kids didn't give him any allowance and he's ok with it. I argued that they should, since parents brought us up, we should give them some allowances when we start working.

That's when he told me about the sad story of his first grandson. He was born premature, and needed to be hospitalized for 2 months after he was born. Thereafter, they realized that baby cannot drink milk and needed to be operated. The baby is 2 years now and they yet to hear his cryings. I was almost tearing when I heard it. It's just so sad :(

In the end, I gave him a little tip to cheer him up. Hope his grandson will get better soon.

Lantern - Fullerton Bay

I went for afterwork drinks with the boys at Lantern. I love the view and the relaxing feel of the place.

However, I was quite disappointed with the selection of food. There's not much variety :(

In the end, we've tried the mini wagyu burgers (set of 3), truffle fries, lamb and beef. Truffle fries was good except that it's a bit too salty for my liking. Mini burgers are not bad. I'm not a lamb person, so I didn't try it. But I think should be ok since they boys have no comments.

Overall, the ambience is good but it's a bit expensive though. A nice place to chill :)

Nice view of MBS

Our comfy rocking chair

Couple bed, anyone?

Our mini burgers (I've eaten one of them.. Hehe)

My favourite truffle fries (it's a bit salty though)

Project Runway, KNN!

Sometimes ago, 3 of us made a bet about one of our gf’s pregnancy i.e. whether it’s a princess or prince. As usual, being confident in our answers, all of us chose the latter. To-date, we also couldn’t figure out why it is a bet when all of us chose the same answer – it’s another of our classic joke.

After waiting patiently for a few months, it turns out that all of us lost the bet. And the forfeit a.k.a. Project Runway, KNN! – We had to dress up one another in an outfit which one would never ever wear.

I have 1 month’s time to gather my ideas and materials, this is so exciting!!

I'm praying hard that my gfs will be nice to me *v*

to Quit or not to Quit

I have been toying with the idea of quitting smoking for quite awhile. Is it that hard to stop puffing my life away after smoking for 9years?

I've remembered my 1st stick was when I'm only 12 years old (yes, underage smoking) and the reason for my first puff- out of curiosity, and it was with a group of virgin smokers of my age. To be honest, it doesn't feel good at all, in fact, it stinks like hell. Therefore, I didn't pick it up until much later until my first job.

It was during smoking session that I get into small-talk session with my fellow smoker colleagues. Through these small-talk sessions, I get into better terms with them and they taught me lots of work related stuffs. I always thought that I'm only a social smoker- that's a huge lie i've been telling myself. Before I realised it, I have been puffing away for 9 years :(

A motto which I develop over the years: "Drinks and Ciggies go hand-in-hand, you will not enjoy without the other." - I have to prove myself wrong.

I have been experiencing tightness in my chest these days, and I imagined my lungs are freaking black chocked with tars. My teeth are getting yellow with dark stains as well. *yucks*

Therefore, I have decided to quit smoking again. Note: I've tried to quit few years ago, and lasted for only 6 months. I hope I can do better this time round.

Wish me success :)

I bought Crest Whitestrips Professional Effect 3D today. Hope it helps to whiten my teeth.

Introduction

A blog has been created to remind me of what I have been doing all these while- i.e. have I been wasting my life away??
